I am in need of help! We are remodeling our bathroom. We are now at the shower & want to make the shower "taller" I guess you could say. I want to extend the pipe for the shower. It's galvanized pipe & I was wondering if there was a way to connect CPVC or PVC to that to extend it. Any assistance would be very helpful. If I have a bad idea here, please don't be afraid to give it to me straight! Thanks!

If its galvanized then its threaded. Just unscrew it and put a longer pipe in its place. I'd sweat a 1/2" male adapter on one end of some copper tubing, thread that in then sweat an eared ell on the other at the height you want it.

if it is galvanized, then it will be threaded at the end. There is a specialty coupling called a dielectric union, and it is made to connect hard pipe like your galvanized to copper. So you can just get one of those, and then extend the pipe and replumb from there.
