Hi, I was about to remove my shower Pan when I saw this connection for the drain and now I have no idea how to go about getting this out. It does not look like a conventional shower drain. Am I gonna have to cut the shower Pan around the drain to get the shower pain out? Any suggestions would be really Appreciated. It looks like a raw PVC pipe coming up from behind the shower Pan and two black rubber rings around it and nothing else. I cannot figure out how to attach if image so I'll have to add it later when I get home.

Had two people tell me I would have to get my neighbor below to allow me to cut into his ceiling to get this one out. Bunch of maggots. Drilled holes around the drain and cut the pieces between with an oscillator multi tool. Took a while and smelled a bit...but got er done... saved at least a K and pissing off my neighbor.... so far. Sure now several will tell me I need to do the same to get the new pan in. Sheesh.

WHy? RJ's instructions were spot on and would not have required your neighbor to intervene. I guess sometimes we just have to push the envelope. Good luck with the drain.

The rubber was too hard to drill or dig out. The guys recommending it were working for a neighbor at the time and one at lowes.
