Usually it's 60 watts and it would be a regular bulb, not a flood light.
As said, it should be stated on the can. just look for the trim your using as that's what will dictate the bulb size and type.
Keep in mind most of those can lights these days have a thermo-disconnect and will shut off if a too large bulb is used.
