I'm finishing an unfinished bathroom in my basement. I'd like to have an etched and sealed concrete floor. Right now the concrete floor is rough and although it is sloped, there are places that it is not sloped correctly.
Someone suggested that I pour a self-leveling concrete to correct the areas where the slope is incorrect, but won't that remove the slope altogether? I'm assuming that I'll need to take a grinder to the floor to grind the slope correctly and to smooth it enough to etch, stain, and seal it. Any problems with that plan?
I'd like to make it an open bathroom with the shower open to the rest of the room. No shower walls, shower door, or shower curtain.
The walls are new mold-proof drywall that have been painted with a mold-proof paint. We've installed a waterfall showerhead coming out of the ceiling. The bathroom is already plumbed.
Assuming I tile the walls, do I caulk the area where the concrete and tile meet, to waterproof where the floor meets the tile wall?
