I just replaced the cartridge on my Moen single handle shower. The controls used to be as follows:


South - Off
East - Cold
North - Warm
West - Hot


After putting it back together, everything shifted 180 degrees so now it is:


South - Warm
East - Hot
North - Off
West - Cold


Not sure what I did wrong putting it back together. Any input would be great.

Remove it and insert it back in after rotating it 180*. Don't forget the retainer.

No, you dont remove the cartridge. Just take off the handle and rotate the stem 180 degrees and put the handle back on and you'll be fine.

Yup, dont forget the copper retainer clip that holds the cartridge in and the stainless steel washer that goes on the stem before the handle.
