Shower drain tie in

1242 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  vanilla-thunder
how do I insert a y-pipe into fixed horizontal drain pipe?
If I cut to much it won't fit tight,
if I don't cut enough I can't get it in.
Can I use a rubber sleeve with two clamps? It will be under the cement when all is done. Will the rubber be ok underground?

That is not a wye.

Pipe is also to small to accommodate a shower. It would need to be 2 inch pipe at your connection as a minimum.
A wye's side connection is a 45 degree angle you just glue a st 45 into it and aim for the shower. Buy proflex plastic to plastic couplings DO NOT USE the all rubber junk.
