We are looking to make this tub function as a shower without having to tear up the tile. The problem seems to be that the faucet is deck mounted as opposed to wall mounted. We have found products that convert a wall mounted faucet to a shower, but not for a deck mounted faucet. Anyone know of any products or ways to add a shower to this? It is possible to access the plumbing from the other side of the wall, if necessary.

Even if you could find a conversion kit for the supply, you have the problem of directing the water back into the tub. The table at the head will leak water onto the floor as will the tail edge. It is flat and water will run off it.

You should be able to access that from the next room, then you would see what you have and whether you can add to it or change it out.
