Hi,

Would like some help here. I have a condo that I'm' not looking to spend much more money on. the technician called and said that there was little freon and suggested replacing the unit. It would need a crane (3 story high) to the AC upon the roof.

He quoted a Westinghouse 2.5ton AC with 70,000 BTU furnace at close to 7k. Does this seem reasonable? Are Westinghouse furance/AC good? Thanks!

Why wouldn't you just get him to repair the leak? Is the unit old or have a history of repairs? How old is the furnace? Have you had other problems that make you think the equipment has lived its usefull life? How long do you intend to keep the condo?

I'm confused, is this a gas package roof top unit or a split system?

an 8 hour day of nitro and vacuum testing will find the leak you don't need to replace the both ends...and if so they will use the same pipe run anyway that could still have the original leak with a new system...
