No guarantees today that a new pump will work the day you take it out of the box. I would get your self a replacement just in case. But apparently your sump doesn't run often.
I don't think we have a super high water table or anything but it does run pretty frequently. Our water table definitely isn't "low", i do know that. Any idea what kind of switch that is? Doesn't seem like the newer units have anything like that.

Doesn't look like there's room but if there is you could put another one in there. With a higher float so it won't run unless the other one doesn't. I'm planning on doing this as a backup with one that runs off the town water pressure. That way in the event of a power outage I'm still protected.
