I have multicolored stone veneer fireplace in den. Floor to ceiling, 4 sides. The den is notty pine paneled and I don't have the nerve to paint it. Lots of windows in the room, light grey berber carpet. Should I paint....and if so, any ideas on colors to keep the "stone" look?

Yeah, pics would help. Just to clarify: are you talking about painting the stone or the paneling?
I will tell you paint would be my last choice when it comes to brick or stone. You can't undo it, at least not very easily. There are stains, however, that might be an option.
