Hi! I have a fairly basic question. We have the heat pump installed on our roof. The fan in the heat pump goes on during the cooling cycle; should it also be spinning for the heat cycle? The internal temperature is 68°; the set temperature 70°. But the fan is not spinning. Is this normal?

Depends... If it's in defrost, it won't spin the fan.. If it's actually in heat mode, it should be spinning.

Defrost shouldn't last too long. It depends on the specific model, but 5-15 min is typical. If you've have your tstat set at 70*f for a significant while, (more than an hour or 2) then there could be a problem.
