Probably a simple and known answer, but I'm confused how to install siding shingles.

The bottoms of the two windows on the wall are not at the same level. One is about 1/4 inch lower than the other. They are 9 feet apart on a 19 foot wall.
Should I install the shingles level and forget about the discrepancy or install them so they hit the windows in the same place.

Thanks

It's a shed. Here's a picture. Yes I know it's too close to the ground. Note, the bottom of the roofing felt is not level. I cut it off randomly so I could measure accurately from the bottom of the sheathing.

I have a story pole. That'll help me split the courses from the bottom up, but won't address the slightly out of level windows necessarily, will it?

Wondering if I should just split the difference and set the level line so the courses are 1/8th up on one window and 1/8 down on the other.

It's basically a run-in shed. It doesn't even have a floor. So, no, there are no window pans. No insulation, no venting soffits, no ridge vent, no door, no heat, no AC, etc.

Thanks for addressing the question I asked.

The reveal of the shingles is important. As long as you have a larger reveal under the windows, 1/8 or 1/4" will be less noticeable. If at all possible, I would remove one window and raise it up to match the other. While the siding reveals can be cheated a bit, it can be tricky to get it readjusted when you get to the top.

I would raise the window if the shingles land in a way that the difference is obvious. If it is not going to jump out at you, just carry on.

I would do a pan in any window anywhere, leaks cause rot.:wink2:
