People,

Handler shakes a bit and squeaks loudly. Its about 15+ years old. Would you suspect the squirrel cage lost a balance clip and the cage is now off balance/rattling/squeaking as a result?

If so, how difficult is it to remove the cage component and replace? Also, if the balance clip fell off, shouldnt it be somewhere sitting inside that area ? I mean, where could it go, right? Once I find it, shouldnt there be a mark/scratch/blemish on the cage where one could clip it back on to fix?

could be a bad bearing on the cage...open it up and take a look...

If a counter weight did fall off, then, yes, you can fix it like you said if you find it. It's more likely what SRDH said.

Could also be a piece of insulation stuck in the blower cage - that's what happened with ours a while back.

had rodents get caught in there as well .... have to inspect to be sure...let us know

99% of the time, the belt won't be visible without taking the blower door off. It will shut off due to the door switch. This is normal. Before touching the belt or blower wheel, turn the AH off at the disconnect/breaker.
