I have an outdoor kitchen that has the fake stone installed over concrete board (the type concrete board that you install under tile.) Some of the fake concrete type material stone pieces have come loose. What do I use to install it back to the board?

I have tried liquid nails but it has come back off. Someone told me to install it with thin set. Is this correct? If not what do you recommend?

Polymer modified thin set. If the stones are smooth on the back, you may want to hit them with a grinder to rough them up.
