My panel box has a bunch of 3/8" BX cables with set screw connectors. Some have the set screw screwed in more than others, like almost all the way. (The questionable ones have anti-short jackets though). As an experiment I tried screwing a set screw connector in all the way with some scrap BX shell just to see what would happen and it perforated the shell.
I was wondering is a saddle connector safer or better than a set screw? How much should a set screw be turned? It never seems to tighten fully but there is definitely a point where there's resistance. I am going to be working with BX and I want to minimize the possibility of shorts.
