Hi All,

Was wondering if I could get some advice from the electrical subject matter experts on the forum. I need to run power for a pool pump along with an additional outlet and power for the gas water heater for the pool. I was wondering if the following makes sense and would meet code for Ontario? I intend on having an electrician hook everything up and ESA inspected but I would like to do the rough-in work running the wire and installing the panel etc.

Have a 30A GFCI 2 pole breaker from my main panel in the house and run NMD90 10/3 wire from it to a 3R 2-pole fusible 30A safety disconnect switch (GE/ABB TG3221R) panel outside within site of the pump. From there I would run one 240V 15A fused circuit with NMWU 10/2 wire for power to the 1.5HP pump and another 120V 15A fused circuit to using NMD90 10/3 or 12/3 wire for a GFCI outlet and power to the gas heater.

Not sure if the same is true with the CEC but in the US you can not use UF (NMW) in a pool application as it does not have an insulated ground wire.

Ontario electrician here, never heard of such a code... nor have I ever seen it in a code book.

OP, I agree with Joed. Please consult with your electrician before starting. Many of the electricians I know will not accept a job started by someone else, regardless of who did the work... Doesn't mean there aren't any that will, but I would check first.
