Hello there,

My mother in law has a detached garage which at some point had a door made for easy access from the house. It was not professionally done so it wasnt done correctly so isnt the size of a normal door. She wants to install a security screen door on it. There's really not much to put it on (frame wise) so I need to figure how I can do it, thats cost effective (like not re-doing the whole door first). Ive attached pictures so you can see what were working with and I just need ideas on what I can do to help

I understand the doorway needs a lot of help. Shes on fixed income and cant afford for a whole construction project. She just mentioned she wanted a screen door and Im just trying to help, also without financially taking on a whole construction project.

It will take a fair amount of construction just to install a screen door.

Do you have a used building material store. You would have to find a screen door close to fitting and then figure out what needs to be done to make it work.

It looks like that opening was just cut in the wall an never finished properly.
