I want to get some security camera on my house. I think mounting the our soffit would be the best. How do I do this? I don’t think they have anything behind them to mount to.

Vinyl or aluminum soffits? Those can be tricky. A picture might help.

Have you checked the IPcamtalk forum? They have some suggestions there for mounting. Those guys also tend to like systems that are easily expandable which may or may not be the case with this WD system, although first glance suggests that’s a decent deal.

I have done this to several houses and built my own DVR many times, but it is always tricky to mount the cameras. your house soffit made of hardie plank?

Most soffit materials required something to fasten it to but if nothing is actually the case maybe try a glue. For easy removal with wood on wood there is a method for easy removal and relatively easy clean-up but I've not tried it with plastic on plastic. OR, possibly glue a section of wood to the plastic to mount the camera to.

I read that pros will use toggle bolts. They’re not adding wood backing. Not sure that’s best but it’s probably fastest and least destructive.

I usually use wall anchors and the screws it comes with.

If you have access to the top side of the soffits you can just add a backing plate if you feel they're too think to support the camera.

To be honest, I would let the specialists do their work. I am not very good at things like this, and I usually break everything, which costs me even more. If I cannot install a simple camera then I am not gonna talk about installing Security Systems. Am I the only one who thinks that engineers are magicians? I don't know how my wife lives me, I think she really loves me. However, this is why I always opt for a company that has all-inclusive, and I just need to sign the papers. I wish you good luck with it.
