For fastening faceframe to faceframe:

Faceframes should still be predrilled even though the screws are self drillers. Drill the skinnier hole through the first faceframe and into the second. Drill a bigger hole just through the first faceframe so screw slides through it and bites into the second. I also use a countersink bit to make a slight bevel so the screw head ends up just below flush with the faceframe edge. I also drill a pilot hole just a tag larger than the screws used to fasten the cabinets to the wall.
