Hello, If anyone could help me it would be great. I have a couple of 2x4's that are rotten on my screened-in porch. I was wondering if anyone sees a problem with me removing most of these 2x4's and replacing it with a 4x4 inside middle. I have attached a picture of what I'm wanting to do.

Can you go outside at the end of the building and take a gues at the measurement between the arrow.

Is it like 8" or more like 18"

I don't see a problem replacing one at a time.

PT is preferred for the rot resistance, but not fit for human living space, so maybe redwood, or cedar, or Cyprus, if you can find it.
