I just finished scraping a popcorn ceiling and would like to know the best way to move forward. I've been told that it's not a good idea to just scrape and paint because the imperfections will show up. So which steps should I take after scraping?

For me? Hang lightweight sheetrock over the whole thin. Will get you the best possible finish. You can also try your hand at skim coating or applying a new texture., e.g. skip trowel, etc. ron

At the very least you need to sand the ceiling real well and fill in any imperfections.
