Hi everybody,

This is my first spring in my first house so I'm pretty new at lawn care. I have some of the Step1 of the Scott's 4 Step program and was going to try to put it down on the lawn today.

Checking the forecast for my town, though, there's a lot of rain coming this weekend. Partly cloudy today and tomorrow, then rain.

If I put down the fertilizer today, is the rain just going to wash it all away? I'm not sure what I should do.

I don't have a sprinkler system, so when I apply fertilizer it all has to do with the timing. I never apply right after I have mowed, especially when hot and always before projected rainfall. You can be a little more lenient with this when the weather is cooler (below 70), but you can quickly burn your lawn if you apply when hot right after you mow....too much stress on the grass.
