Our 1912 house has an RPJ II. Currently it will not fire up. Control panel indicates 3 flashes. Had a thunderstorm last night. Could that have caused this? More importantly, what do we do about it?

There may be a sticker on the back of one of the doors which tells you what that code means. If you had a power surge the circuit board may be damaged. I have had a LOT of those units with cracked heat exchangers and faulty compression rings which hold the exchanger together. For your own safety I would get it professionally inspected.
