Hope I can explain this well enough to be worth your time in reading it.

Situation: Currently have basic t.v. and internet service through TWC.
We have a single airport that serves the whole house, but cable splitters connect to 2 t.v.'s in different rooms.

Plan: We'll be dropping the t.v. portion of our TWC service and keep the cable internet connection. The t.v.'s appear to work well with simple antennas. (Leaf Ultimate) Question is whether I'll need a separate antenna for each t.v., or if somehow I can run both t.v.'s off of one antenna using the existing cable network.

Seems like, #1, the fact that internet service is still flowing through the cable means "Absolutely not. Why would you even ask?", and,

#2. I'm guessing that as the signal from the antenna has to flow through additional lengths of cable, signal quality would suffer.

Any advice and/or suggestions, greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Rob

generally speaking and without knowing what frequencies you are using,
YES you can use the same distribution system for both cable and FTA terrestrial tv.
Their will be some losses so you have to make allowances for that.
Try hooking your TV antenna up to a diplexor and connect into the distribution system.
If the FTA signals are not adequate then either use a bigger high gain antenna or use a booster.

I think you will find that you will need to disconnect your tv cables from your Internet cables. You will most likely need a signal amplifier to boost the signal strength of the single antenna.

Based on the cost of a second antenna vs screwing around with the old cables and an amplifier, my choice would be to use individual antennas.

If you hook an antenna up to wiring that is still connected to TW, they will introduce interference into their line and they will shut your connection off.
Like anything it has to be done properly.
If it is done right, there will be no interferience.

Yes it can be done.
But it's not as simple as you would think.
you need proper components matched to the system.

If your not sure ?
get an experienced installer to do it.

It is actually going to cost you more to drop all of your tv service.

You need to have the Gateway connect to the incoming CATV drop. The Antenna will use the other Coax to the TV's, once you unhook the splitter that connects to TWC's incoming line.

In the end, there should be no splitter at the Gateway. You may find out that you will have to pad your Cable Modem signal down, since most Nodes are being under used these days.

Crosby....what you are wanting to do sounds pretty much like my system. And I also have TWC

Take your antenna coax and connect a single splitter to it. One output goes to TV 1, second output goes to TV 2.

Take your cable from TWC that is coming in...and it ends at the cable modem. Done.

I have an Amp on my TV signal. I am running 3 TV's right now with expansion for 3 more.

I own my cable modem. It was $50...but the 'rental' from TWC was $6/month. I've had mine 2 years so it's paid for itself already.
