I'm starting interior remodeling we currently have a laundry room b4 the garage entrance, we are thinking of using that space to expand one of the adjacent smaller room which would gain 2.5 feet. Will removing this laundry area devalue the home? Would expanding the room help with value?

Where would you move the laundry area?
My wife would prefer a laundry area on the same floor as the rest of the house

Also, a garage door can't open into a bedroom

We're thinking of moving it into the garage. It quite large/long and we could create it's own area in the corner. there's definitely enough space for the cars to fit and for laundry area.

It gets cold here, so that's not an option
I do see that setup all the time in warmer areas
As long as there is a nearby door to get poutside to a clothesline
In our case there is no easy path from the basement to the clothesline/backyard

I think you should remove the laundry room before the garage entrance,by adjusting it somewhere in the corner of garage,so you can expand the adjacent room.
