I install both on a regular basis, GAF more often then OC.

Anyone who tells you "ANY" one brand of shingle is better then all the rest is speaking solely of their personal preference or they simply aren't experienced enough to know any better.
That's why you see so many replies in the forum/s that begin or end with
"In my Region or In my personal Opinion".

Choose the one that best fits your budget and looks best with your home.

Spend more time making sure you have a quality installer then worrying about brand names of the materials and you'll be happy with the end result.

The local roofers have been pushing BP Harmony. The local home improvement suppliers typically offered BP and IKO laminated shingles. I did my research and went with Certainteed Landmark (keeping fingers crossed). Almost went with GAF/ELK, but it was tough finding colours for my region.

Also, I went with Certainteed Winterguard for the ice and water shield...up 7 feet from the eaves. Nova Seal for the underlay. 4/12 pitch.
