ridgevent ii roof rats roofing problem

I am installing a ridge vent ii on my home in Phoenix, AZ. As i look at the ridge vent, it appears a rat could chew through the flange. It is a thin plastic.

Anyone had trouble with rats penetrating through ridge vent II?
