I had an inspection done on a home I want to buy in Michigan. Home has a 2nd floor addition which has no attic and low pitch roof. Inspector's report says the roof is "built light and showed bows". What would cause this, and with no attic, how would I repair it? I don't want to move 2,000 miles to the piney woods and lake if this house is trouble.

How old is the 2nd story structure since it was added on?

How many layers of shingles are on it, or does it have flat roofing materials on it since it is a shallow slope?

Firstly, I think you should contact the inspector you hired and request that he be more definitive about the suspected areas, so that you can decide if it is worth taking care of or not.
