My house has several problems with the roofing job, done before I owned the house (performed sometime in early 2007?). When the house is viewed from the street it has a gambrel (barn) shape in the center with perpendicular shed roofs on one side. There is a perpendicular gable as the garage on the other side. These side parts are at a 1 pitch.

I've in the past had a major ice dam leak on the front shed roof to the point there was a pocket of water on the interior wall below. This was discovered to be caused by a lack of IW shield ANYWHERE on these low valleys. I have since had it repaired.

I also saw that the roof decking physically was able to lift up at this area. The decking ran short of the rafter edges, too.

Now, after learning more and looking again at the roof all around I noticed that I don't have a proper drip edge anywhere around the house.

This type architecture also has no overhang in most spots, so I'm thinking the roof shingle edges and capping must be done correctly-especially at these areas.

Last, the gutters (done in 2008 along with siding/trim) aren't mounted at 90 degrees. Shouldn't they have furred the fascia or something to make it straight up and down, so the gutters aren't tilted forward at all?

I had this weatherproofing program do the house. It was more a headache than anything else in hindsight.

I want to know what I should do or have done to weatherproof this type house properly. Pictures to come.

Shingles should never been installed on that low a sloped roof.
Yes gutter wedges should have been used so the gutters sat level.

It's ashame when I see some of the jobs the well meaning groups have done around here to help out the elderly or handicaped.
The lady across the street from me had a new front door installed.
I was shocked when I saw what they did. They removed the old prehung door jambs and all and just used a hollow interier laun slab door.
When they left I went over to look at what they had done.
There is no jambs, there was no door stop trim. They had just screwed the hindges to the rough framing.
The threshold does not even sit under the door, it sits in front of the door so now all the water just runs into the house and air just blows around the door.
I've got the word into my local Restore for a new door so I can replace it for her.
