Irregardless is not a word. I hear people use it all the time and it would be rude to tell them in person. Since we're on a forum, I thought I'd mention it. People who realize this tend to giggle at people who use it. Kind of like saying for all intensive purposes instead of intents and purposes.(irregardless of hole size or wire size)
I always laugh when folks say "my inspectors like to see".Both Speedy and bob are correct, however, in my neck of the woods my inspectors only like to see two romex per hole.
IF the hole isn't being firestopped, as many as you like... if it is being firestopped, then you have to be concerned about 9 current carrying conductors per hole. How many 14/2 or 12/2 romexcan you run through 3/4" holes drilled thrugh wooden framing?
You'll get conflicting answers to this, but the bottom line is you can pull up to four cables, sized #14,#12 or #10, through a bored hole before you have to worry about derating.
No derating until 24 ".
Explain this please?
I know what is ment by derating. But not until 24 ".
Very simple the heating effect on the conductors when you get more than 23.9 inches the derating can be in effect espcally if you have large numbers of cable or conductors and it is more than 24 inches the derating do kick in and it will reduce the current carry rating a bit depending on numbers of conductors or cable in the hole or in conduit.I also would like an elaboration
