I am having trouble removing the cartridge of a single handle bath sink faucet. The cartridge is held in by a dome shaped cap under the handle, it is very hard to get a decent grip on it with channel locks or anything else. There is a ridged ring at the base of the dome, but it is angled slightly outward, also the faucet itself gets in the way.

I remembered I replaced one of these awhile back, I had some trouble, but nothing memorable. This time I'm just stuck.

Does anyone know a good tool to deal with this?

If I can't get the cap off, I'll have to replace the shutoff valves (contractor valves) so I can replace the faucet. Ugh.

I'll probably try that pb blaster stuff.

I did try channel locks. The back of the faucet is close to the mirror, so I can't get a straight grip on the nut.

It is one of those delta faucets with a looks like a glass crystal handle.
