I have a cold roof that was put on last year over the existing roof. It has a ridge vent and soffit vents. The original roof also had a ridge vent that is now closed off. Should there be an opening into the attic or should the air space all be above the original roof?
Any advice would be appreciated.

You built a new roof on top of the existing roof, with a new air cavity, correct?

If so, then yes, the interior attic compartment should disperse the contained moisture content to the out side environment.
