I sort of like the idea of a Cobra or Mongoose ridge vent but am not sure if it does what it is supposed to do. On my 1950's 900 sq' home I put in all new continuous soffit vents and insulation in the attic but I just can't decide on the style of vent to use, ridge or the regular (box vents?) between every other rafter.
I sort of like the ridge vent for the easy install but it is hard to imagine they can pass air by looking at the design unless it was forced. Are these really used on the finer homes in America?
Heck, I even thought about building a large cupola of some kind and using it to help the natural ventilation.
Any roofers opinion would be greatly appreciated.
