Never installed one at that width but only concern would be the ability to cover it from rain and snow.

There are secondary concerns dealing with a lot of high vent area but that can be less of a problem with a well sealed house to attic ceiling.

Recalculate your high vent area using the larger opening derated for the normal loss screening out bugs. Ridge vents often ignore the derating, but I don't.

Actually want went on is, we f***ed up. Didn’t look into what the specs were. My buddy has experience in roofing and isn’t dumb.

Anyway, it’s covered but I’m concerned about wind driven snow or rain entering. I’m thinking of overhanging the ridge cap shingles 2” more on each side. Maybe use clear roofing silicone to add bonding strength to the shingles so the wind don’t grab them.

* the pitch of the roof is stepper than most. Guessing approx. 38 degrees

Manufacture writes: maximum air openings for roofs with ridge is 3, 1/4
Have any of you known or have installed a ridge vent that went beyond this to say 5 or 6 inches? What was the results?
On my product, it was all about having good (enough) material to nail into and seal with the roof-tar caulking. The slot I cut may have been a little over spec, but I had also changed the surrounding sheathing to fresh 3/4" plywood.
