A ground level room was added to a 2 story gable wall. I want to add ridge vent to this room, but it looks like rain hitting the gable wall has a good chance of flowing into the ridge vent. What is the answer for this? Vent end cap does a good job or 1' or more distance or some kind of flashing? Thank you in advance.

This got me thinking about it again and it seems heaviest rain would follow the slope of the roof. I think I was worried for nothing to think that water would flow over the ridge cap and into the ridge vent opening.
Anyway, when I'm ready for the roof, I will repost with a photo. Thank you for the replies.
