While investigating the source of a roof leak around the ridge vent I noticed that the section of vent that was leaking looks different than the rest. I lifted some of the shingles slightly and took a picture to illustrate the difference. The roof was leaking along the thicker section(left side). The thicker stuff was used over the garage. What's up with that? Why would it leak and not the other?
The house is a rectangle. It has an attached garage that starts right about where the photo was taken and extends to the left about 30ft. That's where it was leaking. I live in St. Louis where we've had this recent record rainfall.
