I saw a post on this from user BJM July 2010 he had a question similar to mine and his question was resolved by Bud Cline. So I applied the test Bud had suggested, which was to wet the back of the tile to see if it turned sticky. In my case, the backing did not, which causes me to believe it is actual resin. Can anyone recommend adhesives to attach this stuff to hardie board? I looked at a product called Instant Bond which claims to be able to stick just about anything to just about anything else but I hesitate to use it on this tile.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, actually it is going around a 3 sided fireplace, sitting on a 1/2" painted steel ledge and will butt up against a granite top. There may be a bit of heat but it is all exterior to the firebox and it has never been too hot to touch. Can probably send a photo if it would help.

Sticking to steel in a warm place like that?

I would consider an epoxy adhesive---
I've never attempted tile to steel---Jaz or one of the other members might know.--

The folks at Latacrete have very good techs in their 'customer help ' line--make a call.

It's not being glued directly to the steel. there is a 1/2 inch steel lip it will sit on and 10 inch strip of hardee board above where all but the bottom 1/2 inch of the tile sheets will be in contact with. So essentially it's being attached to the hardie board.
