Other than hiring a lawyer, I thought this would be the best place to start.
Does anyone here know if there are any requirements in order to sell manufactured toilets from overseas? Codes, laws, certifications, etc?
Thanks

The context of your question is kind of vague.

The obvious answer is most codes require fixtures to be stamped with a UPC approval...

Other than that, i'm not really sure what the intent behind your questioning is.

Thanks, that's what I meant UPC approval, and if there is anything else like that.

I mean I've come across things like AMSE/CSA, IAPMO, and UPC, IPC, NSPC, but don't fully understand what they all mean, which are required, and which are just added for credibility, etc.

You can Sell what ever you want, as long as you disclose that it may not meet government standards home depot does just that, now installing it is a different story for the purchaser.
Oh okay, thanks.
I mean it would pass all standards, but I just don't know which are most valuable, which are required, etc. But that is nice to know. Thanks.

Not sure about that. I read somewhere that it's a violation of Federal law to sell or even import any toilet that doesn't meet the water usage standard. I've also heard of people from the U.S. buying nonconforming toilets in Canada and not being allowed to bring them back across the border.

I remember rumors of this when 1.6/gal started- truckloads were sneaking in from Canada:laughing:

Check with the supplier/distributor that makes/sells the toilet lines you want to sell.

If they are decent supplier, they will have the tests (performance and durability) that can be submitted to any local or national authority if they have not done it yet.

Where the fixture is from is of little importance if you can show quality and performance. I have seen $8000 Toto toilets with air, wash, rinse, dry, auto opening and a stereo (from Japan) installed in China, where they do not particularly like Japanese products, but it fitted in quite well for the clientele and was placed next to a traditional "bombsite" toilet separated by half high wall.

If you are selling or peddling, you just need to have the proof of performance.
