I am going to be replacing my fiberglass tub/shower with a new tub and tiling above for the shower. I want something that I can take a bath in and function as a good shower. I've found a couple of decent ABS and acrylic tubs that are affordable, but I'm concerned whereas my last acrylic cracked within 2 years... Money is definitely an issue - I'm trying to spend no more than $400 on the tub.

For one, if the cast iron tub cracks in your lifetime, you have some major problems. In my opinion there are easier to maintain and the finish will last longer. Styles come and go, as well as cast iron replacements. They've been around for a long time and I doubt that you will ever see a "period type" remodel done years from now for some seeking an abs tub that was made today.

Wow, I didn't even have to put a new topic in, i was going to ask the same question. My Lusko tubs both cracked, and have been repaired numerously. Wife wants me to tile above, and replace the shower/tub enclosed unit that was installed in 93 with the house. I might look into the Kohler products. I never gave that a thought. (I was going to look at fixing the tub again).. Now I have new ideas. (and more work of course! :)

Love the BOSOX! :)
