Is it difficult to replace my faucet and all hardware in my tub. It has one knob for the hot/cold water and a faucet. It. Also has a button that you push in for the water to goto the shower head. I didn't know if I should try it before calling a plumber. The button is not working anyone so you can only take a shower and not a bath. Thanks for any help.

Could you clear up a thing or two?

First --the tub spout--is that where the 'push button' is to switch from shower head to spout?
Changing a tub spout/diverter can be a DIY project--however not necessarily an easy one.

Changing the mixing valve is fairly advanced plumbing and requires soldering---and drywall or tile replacement. A plumber may be needed for that is your plumbing skills are basic.--Mike---

The push button diverter that I have now is not attached to the faucet. It's under the water knob on the wall. I took everything off and the new hardware that I bought looks easy to put on. My question is how do I take the old diverter off and can I cap it off somehow???? Thanks

I'd need to see a picture or have a link to the product----What you are describing is not a common item so I can't say much without more info.
