I have a metal roof that leaks. The gutter is actually the frame for the roof and water pours in when it rains. It also leaks in other spots too. I can not figure out the best thing to do. Can i put plywood over the metal roof and shingle it? Or should I rip out metal and build a shingle roof? What would be the easiest way to build a new roof? No experience here building roof, any help would be appreciated.

That is a patio roof, not usually with walls, it is light weight and would not likely stand up to extra weight.

The gutter needs to be cleaned and the top end needs to be re caulked, find a siding company that sells these things and have them re caulk it.

- This metal roof is showing its age.
- You have a "flat roof" without much support, and you will need a minimum slope for shingles, which I don't think you have.
- As mentioned your type of patio cannot support more weight.
- You will have to fix the leaks, or rip this roof and put on a new light weight roof, with more support.
- other sources to contact would be patio enclosure contractors.

I guess it'll have to be ripped off, there's no way to fix the gutter system. No wonder why it's not the correct roof. In the pic this is the gutter, open to inside, gutter isn't even 2" wide, I've cleaned out, but when it pours the small gutter cant keep up. Than it waterfalls inside, not open to outside, see other pic. Nothing was done properly in this house. If I tear off could I just frame it with 2×4's and plywood, shingle it? What kind of pitch do I need?

I know the gutter you are talking about, a pain to clean.

I think for shingle you want close to 3/12 pitch that would be fairly high on the house roof.
You will have something like a 4x4 aluminum square tubing above the windows playing the part of a beam and the posts holding it up are the same, they may be strong enough but you will want to check to see if they are above joists in the floor.
