Hello,

I have an very old Magic Chef furnace and a Lennox air conditioner. When I turned the AC on, the system wouldn't turn on. I called an HVAC guy, and he said that the fan center shorted out due to an animal chewing on a wire coming from the AC unit. This was late last Friday, so he couldn't get the part and said he would come back Monday. Unfortunately, he has not showed up or called back. My question is, how hard would it be to replace it? It appears like it is just removing the old one and installing the new one, making sure the wires match up. My other question is how do I find out what fan center I can replace my old one with, since I'm certain the exact fan center is no longer being made? By the way, the Magic Chef model is G-83-100D2C3.5-5 and the Lennox is a HS18-411-6P if that helps in any way. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Its probably still made.

And if not. Supply houses should have cross reference book.

Think I would let the tech do it. There is a chance of frying all your low voltage components with 110volts if you make one mistake.

i have found that even ordering that part by furnace model number (Magic Chef no longer made) or by individual part number it does not come wired or with the same colored leads as the original. As a result you could easily misplace a wire and burn other parts up.

A tech would know by the diagram on the fan center or by using a meter which wires to connect correctly if they were a different color
