I need to replace two entry door locks so I purchased two new ones.
After reading the instructions, I found out that I had a non-chisled front door.
It seems simple enough, but here is my question.

How do I remove the old latch? It is held in by a retainer that is pressed into the door. Do I force it out from the back of the latch or do I try to remove it from the front?
I know it may seem to be a dumb question but I want to find out before I make it into a problem.

Thanks

What brand is it? If you don't know it's generally stamped on the end of the latch where it screws into the edge of the door. The lock part, with the knob on either side, will come apart from the inside, either by removing a couple of screws or possible by depressing a tang through a slot in the knob. Maybe you know this, but you can buy sets that are keyed alike, and if they don't have a ready made pair you can have one or the other rekeyed so that they do match.

You have a drive in backset rather than a mortise backset.
