I'm remodeling our bathroom and we have a vinyl double hung replacement window that we'd like to replace with an insulated frosted window. A non opening single piece of glass that will allow the water to drain away easily. Previously we used a window shower curtain to keep the water out of window tracks.

This window looks to be held in with 4 screws through the side and a ton of caulking.

On the exterior, there looks to possibly be nailing tabs but can't tell with all the caulk.

Will I need to remove a lot of the siding, or just the J channel?

My main concern is keeping it water tight on the outside. Will I need to get ice and water shield in there around the frame?

You'll likely have to remove the siding, J- channel, and flashing in order to remove the window. If you're getting a permit for the work keep in mind that a window within 60" of a tub or shower needs tempered glass.
