I need to replace a hard-wired shielded cable at a light switch with a three-prong plug on my replacement garberator. I figure I can simplly clip off the plug and hard-wire the ends as the former garberator was. Right?

I'm not understanding the question. I assume your asking if you can cut the plug of your new garburators power cord and wire it to the switch ??

If you mean the old unit was direct wired with what is common called BX cable, then simply put a box on the end of the cable with a receptacle in it.

Does your cable look like one of these?
