Almost watt for watt, lumen for lumen and volt for volt, however the LED bulb simply won't turn on. I know it is possible I've gotten 2 dud bulbs in a row, but this is just confounding. There is no dimmer installed, it is a traditional straight switch. Is there anything I could be missing?

Let start basic here:

was the old luminarie was working good before you installed the LED luminarie ?

Do this LED luminaire do come with some kind of sensor ? ( motion or photocell ? )

What ya did with the hook up connection ?

Did you double check the wirenut connection to make sure they are tight.

It should be staight foward connection black to black et white to white and bare to bare ou bare to green that should be correct combation.

You simply unscrewed one lamp and screwed in the other? If so then screw in a regular incandescent light bulb that you know is good. If IT works, then indeed you have another dud [unlikely, but possible]. If it doesn't, then we need to look for power to the fixture.

If you did a rewire of some kind to accommodate the change, then we'll address that aspect.

You said 'almost' the same specifications. How 'almost'?

Have you checked the socket for damage? Are the bulbs making contact with the center terminal?

Let start basic here:

was the old luminarie was working good before you installed the LED luminarie ? it was functioning as designed, which is to say, CFL took about 30-45 seconds to warm up before hitting peak brightness, the light was still a pinksih color for another 4-5 minutes. Installing the LED light, there is no illumination however faint.

Do this LED luminaire do come with some kind of sensor ? ( motion or photocell ? ) There is no Sensor with the BR30 light, no dimming feature either.

What ya did with the hook up connection ? I was not involved in the wiring of the boxes.

@Al -- I have moved lights around, other CFLs and it works fine, the outlet is fine. I was going to buy a multimeter tonight too. I should not have said almost, the bulbs are identical in structure, base specification (for installation in various fixtures)

I should add that this is an INDOOR application, there is no humidity concerns either, even though the LED bulb is rated for indoor outdoor use.

LOOK at the base of the LED bulb. Some of them have a fatter base just above the screw shell which prevents you from screwing it in all the way.

You may have to raise the center tab of the socket for the bulb to make full contact....
