Need to replace a dbl hung window in my home. The sill is rotted and the (6 over 6 divided light) mutin bars are in bad shape.

Window gets direct sun light so I "think" vinyl is the best choice??

Am I on the right track...vinyl..Anderson 400??

Thanks

The Andersen 400's are real nice windows. We have them in our bedroom. Unfortunately, they had a wood interior which needed alot of paint to get what we wanted. We needed the project done asap, couldnt order them in white vinyl interior and wait a week.

Andersen is the best bang for your window dollar, IMHO. 1. Least expensive option--You could repair the sill with expoxy, wrap in aluminum and install a replacement vinyl window. 2. Completely replace the window with new construction vinyl or other(Andersen) window. Nearly all now have maintenance free exteriors. Some siding may have to be removed for proper flashing around the new nailing fin.

If you are only replacing one window, it makes sense that it should match what is on the rest of the house, as closely as is practical. Otherwise, consider just doing repairs on the sill. They can be repaired as I suggested, or can be replaced, but that is not a simple job.

Thanks, I did some repairs a couple years ago and I guess it wasn't done very well. Window gets a lot of direct sun and takes a beating.

Anderson has a wide enough selection to match the other windows on the house. This is the only window on this side of the house so it should not be so obvious its different.

Anderson 400 it s..thanks

Ther Andersen 400 Series Woodwright is your best choice... It's made of Fibrex (composite Materail) 60%/40%vinyl fibers...it will never rott! and can be custom sized to fit your opening....to the 1/8" width and height.

The Tilt Wash 400 Series is still a 400 Series, but the Woodwright 400 Series is the more advanced product of new materails.
