I replaced my front door recently and when I did of course I removed the old frame. When I removed the old frame there were two white wires for the alarm system that were in the frame, seemed like they were glued in. The door had the round magnet insert in it where the wires were in the frame. My problem is now the two wires are loose and I'm not sure if they are suppose to be soldered together or if they need to be glued in separately. When I touch the wires together the alarm beeps and if in hold them together the keypad shows the door is closed. I've tried waving the magnet that goes in the door but it doesn't do anything at all. As soon as I disconnect the wires it beeps again and says a door is open. Can anyone help me figure out how these are suppose to go back into the new door frame and how the magnet in the door triggers the alarm system telling it when the door is open and when it's closed.

You want one that is normally open, and most will be sold as NO or NC. You want the magnet to close it, like when you hold the wires together. Radio Shack will have them. If you aren't sure, ask the clerk. (and good luck with that)
