My check valve started spraying right from the seam in the middle when the pump kicks on. I ordered the same one a jackel model D J 545.

It looks simple enough to replace myself. Do I have anything to worry about or just loosen the clamps and slip the new one on?

Right now i have it duct taped with a rag around it to keep it from spraying all over the place.

Thanks

It is simple enough, just make sure you recognize the direction of flow that will be marked on the side of the check valve, it should be pointed upward.

If the pump is in a location where you can hear the check valve closing when the pump turns off, and you find the sound annoying, this is a good time to install a "quiet" valve, (ex:, the Campbel B-0823 series).

(For the record: I have no business relationship with any manufacturer of any brand of check valve.)

valve

Remember that if the leak is on the pump side you could get a shower when you remove the valve as all of the water in the pipe will rush out the end.
