The water shut off valve going to the toilet is stuck in the off position. I purchased a replacement valve but I'm having problems removing the broken one. PEX tubing is used and when I try to remove the broken one the tubing just twists. There is a decorative chrome piece covering the pex tubing making it very hard to get a hold of with channel lock. I have never done anything with PEX tubing before, it there a different way I should be going about removing it? Thanks,

The chrome piece coming out from the wall is covering the PEX. It is plastic flexible tubing at least I guess. I assumed it must be PEX and is what is in the basement. Let me know if any other pictures would be helpful. Thanks

ok, put an adjustable wrench on the big chrome nut on the pipe, and channel locks on the valve and unscrew the valve.holding the adjustable so it wont move.make sure water is off..now whether you can get the nut and feral off is another story, but if the new valve has the same threading, some teflon tape over the old feral will seal it and some pipe dope..

Got if fixed, thanks. I tried to unscrew the valve before posting but had enough resistance, I was afraid I was doing something wrong. The new part was able to use the existing nut and feral.
